The OD-ME mobile phone application is a great tool for overdose rescue education. Since being released in 2020, users of the OD-ME mobile app have reported 101 successful opioid overdose reversals through 2025.
The app guides users on the following:
- Signs that someone may be experiencing an overdose
- Information on the types of drugs naloxone could potentially reverse an overdose from
- How to use naloxone nasal spray (Narcan®) and vial and syringe naloxone
- Links to call 9-1-1
- Steps to take while waiting for EMS to arrive
- Links to 2-1-1 to obtain services and naloxone
- How to appropriately store naloxone
The application uses voice-overs, diagrams, and text to guide users through the process of responding to an overdose and administering naloxone during an emergency situation.
